Halloween 2009
What a fun time we had this year! Leslie decided to be a mad scientist. We decided to just go crazy and had such a fun time with it. And yes, that is her own hair. Mice and all. Believe me, she got a LOT of comments. And yes, it also took a while to comb out and clean up.
Laura decided that she wanted to be Pippi Longstocking. This was super fun to put together also. And she was truly the perfect Pippi.
Seth. Well, I am learning that Halloween is truly easier when it comes to boys. At least this one. I tossed around plenty of fun, creative ideas. But, when it came down to it, he REALLY, REALLY just wanted to be a transformer. Right along with 6 of the 7 other boys that dressed up in his preschool class ;)
Kirsti. I almost forgot to mention Kirsti. It really is a long story. She asked not to be photographed. Kirsti had this idea to be a tube of lipstick for Halloween. I, however, just did not have any amazing ideas on how to make this happen. I know, bad Mom. Kirsti was very happy to find some little bunny ears and tail that she could wear to have a little costume, as she is not entirely sure it is really cool to dress up still. Well....Todd did not think that the bunny costume was such a good idea. Said that the boys her age would have other ideas. So...Kirsti went as a witch. If she still wants to dress up next year, we'll most certainly have to do better. At least I have a year to come up with a way to craft her into a tube of lipstick ;)
Pumpkins. They were a bit more of an adventure than normal. We were SO excited to harvest 5 pumpkins from our garden. I only bought two pumpkins at the store. (One was an extra, just in case.) Well, I learned that doesn't work here. It has been too cold to garden for quite a while now. And did you know that pumpkins don't last a super long time once they are out of the garden? I didn't. When we went to carve them, all the garden pumpkins were soft. The last minute run to the store gave us two, not pretty pumpkins. We happily carved them, and decided we had no choice but to make do with four pumpkins this year. NEXT MISTAKE, I didn't take a picture immediately. Here is what Kirsti's pumpkin looked like after spending the night on the porch. I assure you it was a well-carved super cool pumpkin.
We had the pleasure of chasing off a couple big bucks who loved eating it for lunch. And...if you notice in our pumpkin picture, we caught them just as they were starting on Laura's. Notice the square nose on her pumpkin is not so square anymore! At least it was an adventure!
Now, to all that candy....
